We are advocates for families with school age children. We also work with partners to advocate for equal access to quality education, health care, housing and employment. Our advocacy includes providing referrals, and learning opportunities designed to empower the whole community.
The gospel of Jesus is core to our understanding of our purpose. We believe that we are called to receive the love of Jesus and to extend that same love to everyone. Our mission is to make disciples not duplicates. We are committed to learning to be Spirit filled and Spirit led. That makes for vibrant worship and everyday experiences of God in the ordinary moments of our lives.
Why we focus on Community Service
The message of the gospel of Jesus Christ is powerful and transformative. Belief and behavior are connected (because I believe…I do…). The Bible leads us to an understanding of discipleship that embraces community service: “ For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10). Bible references abound: Matthew 20:28; 23:11; 25:40; Mark 10:45; Luke 10:25-37; John 15:5-8; Acts 20:35; Romans 12:9-13; Galatians 6:9-10; Colossians 3:23-24; 1 Thessalonians 5:15; Titus 3:8; 1 Peter 4:10; 1John 3:18. We are called to make a positive difference in this world starting right where we are!
